Dear Mitch:

Your Big Bucks Marketing on an itty-bitty budget seminar was terrific! And it produced the exact results we were hoping for: we are becoming partners with our customers in their marketing and advertising efforts. In addition, we expect to see some residual results as our sales staff share the small CD you left with us with customers who were not able to attend the seminar.

But the staff training you did for was worth the most to me. After you left it was fun to watch my staff critique their own ads and know how to improve them. This week’s paper is already much stronger and the staff has plans for coming weeks too. Maybe you noticed that the graphic artist who did not want to come because she was too busy clapped the loudest. But most importantly, the training simply put us all on the same page and I believe made our salespeople better equipped and able to serve our customers. Thank you.

As to more seminars and training in the future, count on it.

Sincerely,

Dale Bohren

Our Advertising Seminar, The 7 Irresistible Forces presented by Mitch Henderson, proved to be a hit with Northern Colorado business owners. Over 110 advertisers ($1,650) registered to attend the event. For an admission charge of only $15.00, advertisers received a video CD that taught them to create ads that work and a FREE 3 column x 4" ad in the Greeley Tribune valued at more than $297.

In an effort to offset the expense of the seminar, we also offered an ad package to seminar attendees that included 4 ROP ads (3 column x 4") to run over a one-week period of time for $350. We were able to sell 20 packages, or $7,000 in advertising revenue. The ROP ads allowed advertisers to begin incorporating the principles of The 7 Irresistible Forces into their ads. In short, we were able to offer advertisers an informational seminar while more than covering the costs through the use of an admission charge and the incremental ad sales. We received great feedback from our attendees about the usefulness of the content. We also learned from our sister newspapers, Summit Daily News and The Vail Daily, that we could have easily charged $40.00 for admission. They also had strong attendance at both of their seminars.

In tight economic times, training dollars are often trimmed from budgets. We found this program a way to still offer training and education on the ad process without exceeding our expense budget. We'll do it again.
